Reunion: Come and celebrate our 50th Anniversary! New Players Theatre Company is celebrating 50 years of theatrical shenanigans.
On Saturday 2 May 2026 in the Newlands Community Centre Hall, we are having a meet and greet and afternoon tea starting at 2pm. Some memorabilia will be on display.
This will be followed by a table reading of Marie Thompson and Margaret Potter’s last unperformed play “Will-Full Murder“.
We hope that the Newlands Community Centre will reopen by the date of our reunion. But if not, we will let you know about the new venue. Any enquires please contact the Secretary – secretary@newplayers.org.nz

New Players first kicked off in 1976 with their productions of ‘Not Now, Darling’ by Ray Cooney and John Chapman, directed by our Life Member and one of the theatre’s founders, Ross Conland.
Back then we used the stage and classrooms at Newlands College, which became home of many productions by New Players through the 70’s and 80’s. However we were very creative with our choices of venue, performing in Bellevue School, The back room of the Newlands Arms and even the Historic Wilton House.
