New Players Theatre Company is one of the leading amateur theatre groups in Wellington’s Northern Suburbs. We’ve been going for more than 40 years.
We love to put on a great show for our loyal audiences!
We aim to please with quality shows, performed to the highest standard.
We bring in talent from all over Wellington – and always welcome new members looking to get involved.
New Players first kicked off in 1976 with their productions of ‘Not Now, Darling’ by Ray Cooney and John Chapman, directed by our Life Member and one of the theatre’s founders, Ross Conland.
Back then we used the stage and classrooms at Newlands College, which became home of many productions by New Players through the 70’s and 80’s. However we were very creative with our choices of venue, performing in Bellevue School, The back room of the Newlands Arms and even the Historic Wilton House.
