All New Zealand-resident individuals, companies and other body corporates such as incorporated societies like New Players, are subject to the country's Privacy Act 1993. New Players complies fully with the law. You may view a copy of the Privacy Act 1993 by clicking this link . New Players Theatre Company maintains a register of members as required by the Incorporated Societies Act 1908. The register is stored as a database on a computer at the home/office of the society's secretary. A backup of the database is stored on a computer at the home of the society's membership secretary. A further copy is kept on a computer at the home/office of the society's treasurer. No paper or other hard copy is kept. The personal information contained in the membership register is that required by law: the member's name, address, occupation and date of joining New Players. The register also contains contact information which may include home and work phone numbers, home and work fax numbers and e-mail addresses. In addition, it includes a note of the member's theatrical interests that she/he has provided and records the member's membership category and whether she/he is up to date with her/his annual subscription. Contact information from the register, such as name, address and phone number, is occasionally copied from the register to produce ringing lists, member directories, cast lists, rehearsal schedules and similar documents. These are usually in paper or other hard copy format. Copies of these lists, directories and schedules are not kept, apart from any desired for archival purposes. New Players also maintains lists of organisations that it advises of productions in advance to enable them to make block bookings for groups of people. Apart from a contact name, these lists do not contain personal information. Personal information held by New Players will be used only for the purposes for which it was collected and will not be passed to any other party without the prior consent of the individual concerned. Information about an individual on the database may be viewed by that person. Contact the secretary at New Players' postal or e-mail address or by leaving a message with our phone answering service. Corrections to personal information on the database will be made at the request of the individual concerned in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act 1993. Personal information on the database will be removed at the request of the individual concerned. New Players Theatre Company removes from its database all personal information no longer necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.
